The best food for a 3 month old schnoodle puppy?
What would the best food to feed a 3 month old schnoodle puppy? Once he matures what would be the best food to switch to (and when would the right time to switch be)? What are the best toys to give to puppies?
Any decent dry ADULT feed is fine for any pup....including mutt/mongrels w/a lying label stuck on 'em by crooks to scam the gullible.
Puppy food for puppies, adult food when he gets to be about a year old. I understand the super expensive stuff is best, like Innova, Orijen, Canidae, and a few others. But Royal Canin, Eukanuba, and the mid-expensive stuff is ok as well. The cheapest stuff is usually crap.
Go to Petsmart or Petco and look for toys for puppies. Make sure he has hard puppy things to chew on, as he'll be teething for quite some time.
A puppy should be on puppy food (good brands are Eukanuba, Science Diet, Purina, Royal Canin) until they are 1 year old. After that they can be switched to an adult formula, preferably one that's in the same brand as the puppy food. Also you want to switch gradually, over the period of about a week or so to avoid upset tummies or reluctance to eat the new food.
I love Kong toys. They are virtually indestructable and the fact you can put treats in them (ice cubes and carrots make great healthy and low fat snacks and are great when puppies are teething) will keep them busy for a while!
A puppy eats a lot of food. From birth up to six months of age, he'll need to eat two to four times as much as an adult dog to support all that growth.
